The Knox Tweens are busy baking yummy cookies and other sweet treats in exchange for your donation of loonies and toonies. The funds they raise will help support the Musa kids, allowing them to participate in special school lunch programs, like pizza and sub days, just like we do. Come see us in the church hall after the service on Oct. 1st. All donations are welcome!

This summer, incredible numbers of people discovered our magnificent church as we opened our doors for downtown Oakville events. We’re opening our doors to our Oakville community once again on Saturday, Sept. 30th from 10 a.-m. to 4 p.m. as part of Doors Open Halton. People will be invited to visit our sanctuary and to find out more about what we do here at Knox.
On Saturday, August 19th Knox held a Doors Open and Holy Hot Dog event for the community. We once again handed out hot dogs and water and opened our building during the one day event. Thank you so much to all the volunteers who helped hand out hot dogs, greet people in our community, or helped minimize our environmental impact!

On June 3rd, the Lighthouse for Grieving Children (an amazing organization supporting children and families coping with the loss of a loved one) will be holding its annual fundraiser in Oakville. We’ve already got several people interested in participating, and we’d love to have more! Let’s get a large Knox team together to support this much-needed ministry, and bond as a congregation at the same time! The special event features a 5K run and walk, as well as a 1K fun-run, and a 100 M dash, so there’s something for everyone (kids are welcome, too)!
Please speak with Amy MacLachlan if you’re interested, or, to learn more, visit the Lighthouse website grievingchildrenlighthouse.org.

Thank you very much to all those who kindly donated to our tree this Advent and Christmas season. Our totals were 92 hats, 55 mittens, 26 scarves, 4 sweaters and 2 pairs of socks. We have donated to several schools and to JaneFinch Reaching Up in Toronto.

A great big thank you from Ann Millard and Kerr Street Mission’s Christmas Wonders program! Once again Knox’s congregation has been very generous with their donations. We received $9,372.50 from the congregation and the Outreach Cluster matched the entire amount. The total amount that went to KSM was $18,745.00. Thanks for making the holiday season very merry for so many families and seniors this past Christmas!
Thank you so much to everyone who came out on Saturday, November 19th to join us in front of Knox for this “Doors Open to the Community” opportunity. Our Knox families were out in full force to enjoy the parade, and we offered fellow parade-goers warm cups of fair trade coffee, tea or hot chocolate donated by Ten Thousand Villages. That was a hit. We ran out of hot chocolate—twice! A big thank you goes out to our partners at Ten Thousand Villages who happily provided us with more complimentary hot chocolate to share each time we ran out.
The after school programs and music school for children in the Jane and Finch area have started their new season. The music school teachers have professionally produced 2 CDs, one with classical concert music and one with meditative music called “Hymns for Prayer”. The CDs are for sale after the service for $15 each or 2 for $25. Your purchase will help support this amazing ministry.
