Time for a refresh! Due to increasing difficulties securing the main Lakeshore and Dunn Street doors, the Property Team is undertaking a project to renovate and restore their operation and paint. A firm from Hamilton (Lower City Joinery) has been selected to undertake this important and highly visible maintenance project.
Starting with the Lakeshore Doors, they will be removed and taken to the firm’s workshop in Hamilton. Dry rot will be repaired, paint stripped and hardware replaced and polished. While the doors are away being repaired, temporary painted plywood will be installed over the door openings. Access to the Narthex will still be maintained through the Dunn Street tower doors.
Our goal is to complete this work before the worst of the winter weather arrives! Each pair of doors could be out of action for around 4 weeks or more depending on what is discovered once the doors are examined in the workshop.
This is a maintenance project, and while it is separate from the New Roads project, we are making sure that we are coordinating and working together.
The cost of the project is approximately $20,000 and is being funded by a very generous family wishing to stay anonymous! Praise the Lord for their generous spirit! If you have any questions please speak to Duncan Low or Barbara Browne. Exciting times at Knox!
