Children’s Worship
Knox Oakville is a church that welcomes everyone, regardless of age or style of learning. We focus on being intergenerational. We look beyond our own needs and towards the needs of others in our community. This is a place where we get to explore faith together in ways that make sense to us.
At Knox Oakville, we abide by the Leading with Care—a policy of the Presbyterian Church in Canada that ensures the safety of children, youth, and vulnerable adults. We put safety, well-being, and learning at the forefront of our ministry.
Worship might look a little different than it did before the pandemic, but we are a church that is not afraid to change, grow, and try new things. The church is in a growing phase, and we want to be able to expand in ways that are truthful to the gospel, God, and ourselves. Comfort levels are different, and we recognize this. We want to create a space that welcomes and celebrates a diversity of children and learning styles! So, welcome to Knox Oakville’s Children’s Ministry, we are SO glad you’re here.
At Knox, we seek to help children experience God rather than just acquire knowledge about God. Children are invited into the stories of the Bible, to engage with them, ask questions, and reflect in deeply personal ways about what they are hearing and seeing. It provides a “new way” into the story.
All of this effort is to help create worshippers and theologians! When children find themselves in “big church” on Sunday morning, you’ll be surprised at how familiar they will suddenly seem with the ebb and flow of the worshipping life of the church. It really is amazing to experience. Whether you are 5 years old or 95 years old, our program invites everyone to the table!

Worship Bags and Pray-Ground
Say your child really enjoyed the story in the service on a Sunday morning, but they’re feeling a little nervous to go downstairs to the children’s worship space. Not to worry! At Knox Oakville, we also LOVE to have children experience “big church.” We have worship bags available at both entrances that have a small snack, colouring pages that match the scripture, a place for note taking, and more! This helps children, families, adults, and others sitting beside children in the pew, engage in a Sunday morning in exciting ways. Say your child went through the worship bag, and now they’re feeling a little restless. Not to worry! We also provide a Pray-Ground that can be found at the front of the sanctuary. (Note: Pray-Ground resources have been moved into Nicoll Hall, on the lower level, until our renovation is finished. We livestream the service downstairs so you won’t miss a thing–plus you’ll be loser to the coffee.) This is a place to explore, sit, colour, relax, and enjoy the rest of the service from a different seat. At Knox, we want to remove barriers when it comes to worship. If that means that children want to stay with their families rather than heading downstairs, we have provided ways in which family worship can still take place in the sanctuary.
Don’t forget to say “HI” to our Sunday school leaders. If you have any questions about the program or want to learn more about what Knox has to offer, don’t hesitate to call the office.
