The Christian church exists for others. We believe that our faith is alive through our service (James 2:14-26).
Presbyterians believe that Jesus came into the world to demonstrate God’s concern for the world and its people. We recognize Jesus’ challenge to follow him (Luke 9:23) and his final commission to us (Matthew 28:19).
We can help change the world simply by giving our time, talents and treasure to help make a difference in the lives around us.
Knox Oakville and its ministry groups support:
- Our refugee sponsorship program
- Kerr Street Ministries
- Lighthouse: Peer Support for Grieving Children
- Evangel Hall Mission
- Presbyterians Sharing
- Presbyterian World Service & Development
- Jane Finch Reaching Up
- Arise Ministry
We also believe in supporting our local community. We open our doors and serve up free food and drinks (which we jokingly call “Holy Hotdogs”) during special events in downtown Oakville, and we’re members of the local BIA so we can stay in the loop and involved in the downtown community. We collect sanitary supplies and other women’s essentials for distribution at shelters and street missions. Our building is used by many community groups and organizations, too.
