Who among us, having 100 sheep, wouldn’t leave the 99 to go search for the 1 that went missing? Was it a rhetorical question? Hyperbole? Bad business modelling?? Seems a bit irresponsible, no? Maybe we’ve been missing a few details on what we’ve always assumed to be a simple parable about finding lost things. What was the fate of the 99? What were the circumstances of the one who was lost? And WHO was really lost?
This week we dig into the parable to discover some little things that change everything, and rediscover the promise that no matter how “lost” we feel, the Good Shepherd never abandons us, and never stops seeking us out.
This teaching was preached at Knox Presbyterian Church in Oakville, Ontario, Canada by The Reverend Jacquelyn Foxall, on this 4th Sunday in LENT March 30th, 2025.
