The young children are wonderful. They have huge smiles and hold out their little hands to touch us.

At the Gambaga Go Home Project it was extremely difficult to see these ladies accused of “Witchcraft” herded into a large room with their babies sitting and lying on the floor. Although protected by the chief instead of being killed by their own people the goal of the project is to return the women to their own communities, which can take up to 8 years or longer depending upon the community. In order to achieve a safe return most women have to find ways to prove that the charges of witchcraft are fictitious which can take some time. Some of the clergy negotiate extremely difficult cases. Eighty women currently live at the program but 53 have been returned to their communities safely over the past 3 years.
